Yes LOL. You may want to reread before you rant off.
Particular the last line - in fact the last 2 lines.

250 guilds (say 25 members per guild - which is overestimation since most top 100 guilds I know have less than 15 who play in their guild)That is 6250 people out of say 1 million (again an understimation). How many people play guild wars?

So what is 'plenty' guilds you know of - 5, 10, 30 guilds?
Even a silly estimation of 50 members out of 30 guild is only about 1500 players. How many people play GW again?

So yes - LOL.

A high Gladiator, Champion or Hero title takes the most time. From character-based titles it's People Know Me, 10 titles takes alot of time, no matter what combination you take.+

Who cares? Seriously. Fow is ugly on almost every single character type. There is always a better armor choice (yes, even on necro and mesmers). I wouldn't ebay fow armor, I wouldn't farm for it, hell, I wouldn't make fow armor if I was given the ectos. If they told me I could have the ectos but only if I made fow with it, I'd just give them back.

Let's get back on topic here.

People Know Me is the most impressive title IMO. Kind Of A Big Deal isn't that good. Tyrian and canthan GM cartog, protector of tyria/cantha, and one other. Not that hard to do, but People Know Me require you to actually dive deep into some of the really hard, time consuming and expensive titles.

I think anyone who didn't iway or vimway their fame and still has a high rank has 2 things. 1 is pateince. It takes about 5-10 minutes and sometimes less to find an iway team that is ranked and unranked. Balanced groups and some spikes takes a while to form and get going. Also, you think to your self as 15 minutes pass as you're 2/8 in your balanced group, If i iwaying right now, i bet have some type of fame. 2 is skill and coordination. You have to have vent/ts and communicate good in order to succeed most of the time.

Champion titles I think are the most amazing. It shows you have coordination, you can commnicate, you have skill in general in GvG
Also, gladiator titles that are Mighty Gladiator and up takes some sort of skill.

As far as PvE titles go, seeing a drunkard title makes me think wow....1000 minutes watching your character get drunk? to Me, thats not what I call fun.
Survivor Titles that are 2+ means no Afking/Leeching for the most part. But if I had to pick a title, it would be Champion title for sure.

Well, it should be the most impressive title out there! That's a no-brainer, as you've got to max out 10 other titles to get it. (when the next tier in that track comes out, it won't be the most impressive title there is. I think the thrust of the conversation is about which single title track is the most impressive.

Don't know about lvl 2 or 3 because I haven't achieved either yet, but it is certainly possible to get lvl 1 survivor using pug's and henchies without even contemplating logging off or mapping out mid game.

Age is a factor here - most under 16's want a title to impress and will 'play the system' any way they can to achieve it, whereas 'older' players are mature enough to realise that achieving a title is something you do for your own gratification not to impress others.

I was pleasantly amused when two people (names not important) started going at it last night in Eternal Grove trying to debate which was better... deadly hero or expert skill hunter. The debate eventually degenerated into back and forth petty insults, usually involving "n00b" chants.

Some people value pvp skill, while others prefer pve accomplishments. Either way, both sides have lots of time on their hands

Well, I'm a proud owner of a Gladiator title and i can tell u it was pretty hard to get. I started attempting it right after factions came out and took me about 2 weeks. Then i just found out u could farm gladiator points in Zaishen Elite i just stopped trying to achieve a higher rank. I used to be the only Gladiator in the RA district and after that exploit was found, there were always 3 or 4 gladiator per districts. Then off course came the arenas event which made me even more angry...

Then i went for legendary survivor and it was easier than i had thought. Yes, i did it in 20 hours by farming trolls with scrolls but still it wasn't easy to get:
I started in tyria as i didn't like cantha's monk faces; I never got run, I fought all my way from Lion's Arch to Sanctum Cay with only henchman. It was a pretty hard run as if i'd come close to die, i'd have to logout and start all over.

Now, i'm triying for the KoaBD one. I got both protector titles on my l. survivor and i'm just waiting for nightfall to come out to get another protector and maybe the sunspear ranks title.

From my experience, i can say the title that was harder to get for me was the survivor one as if i'd failed i'd probably not try it again. There's just a lot of pressure on u; u can't make a mistake while solo farming, u can always die and all that effort was for nothing. A simple lag spike can end it.

Kind Of A Big Deal = Need to get out more
100% Explored = Have nothing better to do
High Rank Treasure = Doing it to make money or want title to look good
High Rank Wisdom = Got it while doing farming a lot or chest running
Rank 2 Drunk = I stood still for a long long time and wasted my money
Rank9+ HA = I have played the game for a fairly long period of time and am a reasonably talented player
Champion Titles = I am in the core team for a good GvG guild
Rank 3 Survivor = I got bored and decided to make a new char and get powerlvled for a few weeks
Skill Hunter = I have fun exploring maps for skills or need to unlock a lot for PvP
Gladiator Titles = I do some TA/RA for faction OR i used the Zaishen bug previously

So.. most "good" titles need grind which inst real skill... i suppose i think of PvP titles most highly because they show overall skill in the game, but any other title can be gained by anybody really. I am LEAST impressed with Kind Of A Big Deal as it shows to much dedication to the game which is... sad really dont you agree?

OK picture the Scenario - you have 6 players out of 8 going for Survivor who for example decide to do Viznuah Square Mission how many do you think will be left in that team at the first sign of trouble?

Thats why the Survivor title is one of the worst in PuG's as it's a guaranteed dropout from the player trying to achieve it, and is why all of them are assumed to have been powerlevelled by guildies/friends or paid someone, as theres no way you can achieve Survivor 3 without being helped along the way in some shape or form, even if it means standing at the back and getting the XP.
Chances are, you will NOT have 6 people in your group going for survivor at Vizuna.

Would you really stay and get yourself killed if you're the last one standing and your res sig's been used? The few times I've quit on teams, that was the reason.

Oh yeah, I think I agree with those here who believe the titles are to see your own achievement. I went for survivor 3 because I wanted to see if I could. It's a personal achievement, as is the skill hunter title. I don't care if someone thinks less of me for displaying it or more of me for doing so. I like the titles and the fact that we can see how we have progressed through the game. *leaves the topic alone*

Opinion rly?

Titles are gotten by farming. Who ever said titles are an indication of skill? Titles are a level of knowledge and dedication which is worth some appreciation, even if the player is an utter mending scrub.

Titles aren't a 'can you do this?' thing, they're a 'would you do this?'. Anyone can get cartographer, the question is, would you dedicate the time to it?

Your post insinuated that ONLY the top 20 guilds could get champion points, which is flat out WRONG. Right now you'd only have to reach the top 163 to achieve the required 1200 rating to start gaining Champion points.

With only 1000 guilds on the ladder it's not very hard to create a new smurf guild and farm the rating required to gain Champ points, without really worrying about losses. I'm sorry if you misunderstood me, but the entire point was that's it's not very hard for determined players to farm Champ points if they choose to do so. Just about anyone can farm the ladder with blood spike, ranger spike, SB/RI or thumpway.

Furthermore, your implications that champion points can't be farmed and are only obtainable by the top 20 guild were flat out wrong. So, yes, I find your misleading and incorrect statements funny.

Quote:

For someone commenting about how much I supposedly misread, I'd figure you would've actually read and attempted to comprehend my post. I didn't mention any "guilds" I know of, I said I knew individuals who played PUG GvG with the intent of farming Champion titles, and did so with sucess...

Also, this has absolutely NOTHING to do with how many people play Guild Wars in general, as a lot only do pve anyway. This only has to do with people who are interested in GvG or the Champion title track.

So, without dragging this silliness out any further... Let's just leave it at the fact that Champion titles aren't as elite as some might like to think, and that they are infact farmable by a wider range of people than most might think.

It seems you left one out. Let me help you:

The Silver Star: I don't have any titles myself, so I really have no idea what it really takes to earn them. I am a troll.

I agree with Guinevere AC, a Legendary Survivor who earned KoaBD without dying would certainly be most impressive. I'm working on that one now, in addition to skill hunting.

Also, the impressiveness of the KoaBD title depends on the titles that contributed to it.

i kind of like to join random pugs with my survivors, it makes it more challenging
my assassin 'died' about 5 times due to mhenlo/togo/danika deaths, but i got into a really good pug for boreas seabed. i henched everything else, got my tier 2 chesthunter title before survivor on this char

the only real help i got was capping 20 skills during the double reward weekend (thanks anet)

i agree with the above poster as well, most impressive pve title would be to get protector/cartographer titles during the survivor title track, i always played it safe and didnt care about the bonus and never ventured one step more than i had to
